This is happening in Costa Rica.
I’m Very frustrated with my country’s system of justice …

Jairo Mora Sandoval – You shall not be forgotten!
By Captain Paul Watson
Demonstration for Jairo in San Jose, Costa Rica Today
Today, Ticos will demonstrate in San Jose against the fact that the seven killers of Jairo Mora Sandoval were freed without consequence.
The police know that these seven are the thugs that murdered Jairo.
The court knows that these seven are the thugs that murdered Jairo.
The media of Costa Rica knows that these seven are the thugs that murdered Jairo.
The people of Costa Rica know that these seven are the thugs that murdered Jairo.
The seven were freed simply on technicalities because of errors and the loss of evidence.
It is a travesty of justice.
And it has sent an ominous message. The life of a conservationist apparently is not worth much in Costa Rica. Not one single murder of an environmentalist in Costa Rica has been solved or punished.
Charged with kidnapping, rape, robbery and murder and all seven walked free.
Meanwhile since the death of their greatest protector Jairo, the turtles of Moins beach have had their nests plundered, their eggs stolen and many have been killed.
What can we do?
What will we do?
What we must do is to ensure that Jairo’s name is not forgotten. He was martyred for the cause of conservation. He died for the sins of those who spit upon the future and the heritage of Costa Rica.
I intend to see to it that his name is as well known to the entire world as other martyred conservationists like Chico Mendes, Diane Fossey, Joy and George Adamson and Karen Silkwood.
There will be a documentary and a motion picture made because this story begs for a dramatization. Books must be written and his memory must be enshrined in poems, paintings, music, and film.
He must never be forgotten.
